TED ATHERTON portrays an unintentionally comical FBI agent. The Winnipeg-born actor holds numerous film, television and stage credits and is perhaps best known for his leading role as “Pan Philips” in the CBC series “Nothing Too Good For A Cowboy” which garnered him a 2000 Gemini Award for Best Lead Actor in a Continuing Dramatic Role.

When not busy in front of the cameras, Ted is also an accomplished stage actor. His list of stage credits include major roles in "Death of a Salesman" and "The Lion King" at the Royal Alexandra, "The Cryptogram" at the Tarragon Theatre, "Hay Fever" at the Canadian Stage and "The Last Comedy" at the Banff Centre. An experienced Shakespearean actor, he has played principal roles in "As You Like It" at the Du Maurier World Stage, "Much Ado About Nothing" at the Theatre Calgary, and "Richard III" and "All Well That Ends Well" at the Stratford Festival.

Born in 1963, Ted Atherton received a Bachelor of Arts in English and Drama with honors from the University of Toronto and completed a three-year Masters program at the Banff Centre.

I haven't been able to find any concrete info, but just based on their ages, resemblance and surname, I'd bet they are father and son. As to why there seems to be no link between the two online, I'd guess that perhaps Ted wanted to "make his own way" in his career and not rely on his father's reputation as an actor or maybe they just don't get along well. It happens, even in Hollywood.

I wondered the same thing. They look so much alike. Wondered if they were father/son or brothers. Can't find anything online.

Hi Guys, Yes, Ted is the son of William (Bill ) Atherton, but not the one you are thinking of. He is the son of Bill and Jane Atherton. Bill is a successful career Insurance salesman and his mother is a retired Education Assistant. I was Ted's first friend when he moved to Toronto from Winnipeg. He came to St. Barnabas Catholic school in grade 7 and I went to High School with him at Cardinal Newman Secondary School in Toronto. We went to each other's wedding and remain friends to this day.
